I'm a UK citizen (waiting for GC), and one obversation that I have is:
If you are very good in your profession odds are that you'll suceed in either country. But if you are average (and by definition most are) then you'll be at a disadvantage with respect to the locals when you go somewhere new, especially if you don't have good contacts.
So I'd recommend thinking dispassionately about how good you are at your profession, and just as importantly how well that comes across in resume or interview. Do you have good contacts in UK?
I'm not sure if "indefinite leave to stay" gives you access to the whole EU, but it's a path to UK citizenship which does give you access to the whole EU job market (language barriers permitting). It does suck that UK gov effectively retrospectively changed the rules for "indefinite leave to stay", but at least in UK there is an end date (unless they push it out each year). Here for some there is no obvious end date for the waiting.

I may be wrong on Q2 but on Q1 I am 100% certain that unless you file your 485 under the new fee structure ($1010), you will have to pay the new EAD fee each year when you renew your EAD.
Can someone else confirm this too? For Q2, I think you are wrong. Take this case....
Primary is on H1, derivative on H4, both apply for AOS, primary goes on EAD (thus invalidating H1, and in turn spouse's H4). So, the spouse just has AOS receipt number, and no H4. Is she out of status? Of course not. This is a very common scenario.

I got FP Appointmnet letter on 10/10/07 for the the date 10/30.
After i got this fp appointmnet letter i had changed my address on 10/10/07 with usics, i got card production mail from uscis on 10/11/07,they updated my new address and i did not got any mail from them saying that they send the EAD card,many of my frineds said that they recived mail from usics saying that EAD had sent my mail,But i did not
Is adress change impact on EAD time.

Dude, please read completely. He said there was no update on USCIS case status check online but he got approval notice. Isnt that strange?
Dude, is not strange for USCIS. I know a guy who has the approval for 6 months and the case is still in process online.

i guess I am going to be in trouble in case I have to get a new PCC. I will try and get a new one when I reach India. Also update to my status is that chennai consulate has sent a letter to my local address in India about the interview appointment date.
The reason consulates in the US take 50 days for PCC is that they send the request to regional Passport Office in India who take like 45 days. So you may probably apply at PP office in India and get the clearance.

Thank you for your replies, I appreciate it.
So, I guess, it is okay to get the H1B "Transferred" and if (god forbid) I-485 gets denied, I can still work till the teneure of H1B and then go home.
Also, if i-140 is revoked , that should trigger NOID or RFE which the lawyer will handle (hopefully successfully).

If 485 gets denied because of 140 revocation after 180 days, it is erroneous and has to be resolved through MTR. H1b is very useful in such cases as you can continue to work while you seek resolution through MTR. If on EAD it gets risky because you cannot work when MTR decision is awaited.

Thank you ingegarcia, Just to clarify "postmarked before April 15th" means, even if the application is not yet accepted, but received by the AINP before April 15th. Could you please confirm if my understanding is correct.

Where is the best place to learn Peoplesoft ? What is future scope of Peoplesoft ? Also where is a good place to learn SAP or Oracle Financials ?
Do local Univ or Community colleges - Computer Science or MIS departments offter these classes ? Does one need to learn C to learn these applications ?
My only prior programming experience is in Basic and Fortran languages eons ago.
A lot of Indian consulting companies offer training prior to marketing yoour resume. Check them out, some medium size ones, big ones have purchased training licences and fulltime trainers in ERP packages like Oracle Finaicials, Peoplesoft, Siebel etc... Though all these are now owned by Oracle.
A good way to enter IT as you have an MBA is try to get into Data warehousing. This woouldd involve a lot of Oracle traning and there are a lot of companies who give beefore they place you on projects. But remember that once you go through consulting companies, andd based on the fact they trained you and placed you, they will pay you a average deceent salary butwill charge the cllient tons of money and client would expect you to work for whhat he gives

thanks for the link jkays94. I have known FAIR and NumbersUSA anti-immigrant position for a long time know. That they are a near-permanent fixture on Dobbs show only confirms this.
My point in posting this was to illustrate that immigration (pro or anti) lobbying organizations are well-oiled machines, having their own full-time Capitol Hill staff and professionally run fundraising capabilities.
Looking at all this, it is all the more commendable what IV-QGA has achieved in S 2611 (altho to be honest our provisions are not controversial, the rabidly anti-immigrant stance has even made passage of those modest provisions recapture of unused visa numbers and filing of 485's- difficult).

These are all good suggestions and translate well from my film days. I also read that, whereas in b&w the adage was expose for the shadows and develop (or print) for highlights, in digital it is the reverse - expose to preserve detail in the highlights and then use your curves in RAW to fix the shadows where you want them. So I'll have to put all that to work this week / weekend. If the flowers stay around, that is.

there is a small shops complex there called chappan dukaan... very famous hangout place for all indorians... just remembered :)
Chappan Dukaan is too good...even non indorians have heard about it...
I just had a morning dream that EB3 will be current in coming months.
May all EBs get current and all desis can switch jobs/companies/professions....

I have copies of all my I-20's and H1B's with me but I never kept copies of I 94 cards. Now if they start asking for all such documents its going to be very difficult. What happens if you are missing an old I20 can you ask school to go thro their records and issue a duplicate. To be honest from 2003 onwards everything is online via SEVIS so they should not even ask us for paper documents. Same with H1 with this new system they have started from this year.
